π Staff Spotlight: Ms. Rachael Sable π
Meet Ms. Sable, now in her 2nd year of teaching and her 1st year at Scholars Academy! She holds a Bachelorβs in Biology and Spanish and is currently pursuing her Masterβs in Foreign Language Education, with graduation set for Spring 2025. π
Although Ms. Sable has lived in many places due to her parent's military service, she calls South Georgia home. When sheβs not in the classroom, youβll find her reading (sheβs part of a book club π), hanging out with her dogs π, camping, hiking, or doing arts and crafts π¨. Sheβs also passionate about training working dogs and has a four-year-old Belgian Malinois named Fury. Ms. Sable loves the welcoming and supportive school community at Scholars Academy, where students are eager to learn and demonstrate the potential of the next generation. π« We are so lucky to have Ms. Sable as part of our team!

Mrs. Russo's AP Biology students practiced their micropipette skills this week as they prepare for the upcoming Genetics Unit. Not only did they perfect their lab techniques, but they also explored various careers where these precision tools play a key role in groundbreaking research and innovation!

π Staff Spotlight: Ms. Djuana Rinehart π
Meet Ms. Djuana Rinehart, our amazing 6th Grade Social Studies teacher at Scholars Academy! π She holds her Bachelor's, Master's, and Ed Specialist degrees from Valdosta State University and is also Gifted Certified. β¨Ms. Rinehart started her teaching career in Decatur County, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 1996 π and later became the State Teacher of the Year Runner-Up! π In 1997, she joined Thomasville City Schools and has been the Director of Science Academy for over 20 years. π¬β¨A proud mom of 4 daughters (all THS grads!) π and "Nonnie" to 3 grandkids, Ms. Rinehart loves traveling, reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. πππFun fact: After high school, she worked as a deckhand on an 80-foot crew boat in Louisianaβs offshore oil industry! βοΈπ€ She's also obsessed with post-apocalyptic fiction, Diet Mt. Dew π₯€, and Welchβs Gummy Fruits! πMs. Rinehart says her favorite part of teaching at Scholars Academy is the close-knit, family-like community. π Sheβs proud to now teach the children of some of her former studentsβwhat a full-circle moment! π©βπ«π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Letβs give a big round of applause for Ms. Rinehart! π

π Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Connie Jones π
Meet Mrs. Connie Jones, a passionate middle school science teacher with 10 years of experience! She holds a Bachelorβs in Biology, a Masterβs in Middle Grades Science, and a Masterβs in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Jones grew up right here in Thomasville, GA, and loves spending quality time with her family. π‘ In her free time, you can find her traveling βοΈ, cheering on her son at his basketball and football games ππ, or working with the youth at her church. A fun fact about Mrs. Jones: she gets goofy when sheβs sleepy! π One of her pet peeves? People messing up her name! π
When asked what she loves most about teaching at Scholars Academy, she shared: "I love the smaller setting between teachers and students." π¬π©βπ« Thank you, Mrs. Jones, for your dedication to our students and your love for teaching! π«
π¨β¨ Huge congratulations to Athalia Knight for her incredible achievement at the 2024 Deep South Fair! She took home 1st Place in the 11th/12th grade painting category and was awarded Best in Show! ππ We are so proud of her amazing talent and creativity.

Meet Mrs. Jill Everett, a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with 20 years of experience, 16 of them spent serving the Thomasville City Schools District. With a Masterβs degree in Communication Disorders from Valdosta State University, Jill is passionate about helping students succeed. When sheβs not working as an SLP, youβll find Jill cheering on the THS Diamond Dawg Majorettes as their coach, supporting her team and the THS Bulldogs on Friday nights πΎπ. Sheβs also the proud mom of two Scholars Academy students, Bailey and Parks π©βπ¦. In addition to all of this, Jill is a travel agent who loves a good chance to "get away" βοΈπ. What does she love most about teaching at Scholars Academy? "Because I have the unique position to have my students from 6th-12th grade, I love the relationships that I'm able to build with them." π Thank you, Mrs. Everett, for your dedication to your students and your school community!

Meet Mr. Dale Hicks, a passionate educator and outdoor enthusiast! π With an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a Master of Arts in Social Studies Education from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education Social Studies from Mississippi State University, Mr. Hicks brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Scholars Academy. Before his teaching career, he served 22 years in the U.S. Navy. When he's not in the classroom, you can find Mr. Hicks enjoying the great outdoors β whether itβs golfing, playing tennis πΎ, hunting π¦, fishing π£, camping, or hiking β°οΈ. A die-hard Gator fan π, he proudly claims, "If you cut me, I'll bleed orange and blue." What does Mr. Hicks love about teaching at Scholars Academy? "The engagement. I expect my students to give as good as they get, not accepting dominant narratives or the status quo." ππ‘Thank you, Mr. Hicks, for inspiring our students to think critically and for your service! π«
